I design and handmake custom jewellery in Bendigo — specializing in engagement rings, remodels and repairs.
Custom jewellery, handmade in Bendigo.
I got into jewellery making as a hobby. Then completed apprenticeship training, and about eight years ago I made it my career here in Bendigo.
Every piece that leaves my bench has been designed, drawn and handmade by me, start to finish.
I've have a laser welder, which means I can often do repairs — resetting stones, resizing, working around bezel-set gems — without the heat damage that stops other jewellers taking on a job. One recent example: a customer brought in an 18ct gold emerald and diamond ring that needed a missing diamond replaced and the band enlarged four sizes. Local jewellers had told her it couldn't be done — the heat from a normal repair would have damaged the bezel-set emerald. I was able to do it without that risk.
I'm a fellow member (#212) of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia. Most of my work comes through word of mouth, Facebook, and from the Gold and Siversmith’s Guild of Australia.
Your Questions,
Answered
Do you offer custom jewellery designs? Yes. Whether it's a family stone you want reset or a completely new idea, I'll design it, draw it up, and handmake the finished piece.
What materials do you use? Precious metals only — including recycled precious metals on request.
Do you do repairs and remodelling? Yes, alongside custom work — repairs and remodelling done in-house.
Why come to you instead of a bigger jeweller? Because every piece is made by me personally, start to finish — and because I've got the equipment (a laser welder) to take on repairs that other jewellers turn away. If you've been told a job "can't be done," it's worth getting a second opinion from someone who works this way.
How long does a custom piece take? It varies depending on the complexity of the design and material availability, but generally around two weeks from approved design to finished piece.
How long do repairs and remodelling take? Also dependent on complexity, but usually quicker than a custom piece made from scratch.
Every custom job starts with your idea. We talk it through, I draw up a design, and once you're happy with it, I make the piece by hand from scratch in my Bendigo workshop. No catalogue casting, no shortcuts.
My favourite work is engagement rings — there's a lot of trust in being handed that job, and I take it seriously. One I'm particularly proud of: a large duchess-cut diamond engagement ring with a hidden halo. A lot of work, but exactly the kind of piece I love getting into.
